BUDDIES I NEED ADVICE!!
Hey Buddies! I have a question and would like some advice. I am thinking about trying the Sacred Heart diet. I have thought about this since I joined Buddyslim. Ya know, the allure of something magical. I would like to know if anyone has tried this approach. I was even thinking about doing it for part of the week, and coupeling it with my regular restricted diet. Would really like to jump start some more loss. What do you guys think? I have written down the ingredients and am heading to the grocery store today. I just want to see and feel substancial weight loss. I feel like I should have lost more weight by now too. When I weighed yesterday I weighed in at 245, so that is 15 #’s lost since joining here. I am an every morning weigher, and this morning when I weighed it was about 247!!!! So….what is official is that I have FOR SURE lost 10#’s, but it is teetering around the 245-247 range. I just feel frustrated. You should see me when I weigh myself…..I step ever so carefully on that sucker-look-step off-step back on..carefully. It soooo dictates me. When I saw the 245 yesterday, I saw it twice and ran with it. Quickly checked in and reported my weight!!! My day was made. This morning-not so much. Dont even suggest not weighing every day-not gonna happen-I got to be honest!! Dont get me wrong. I am staying focused and looking for the long term payoff. I guess at the same time I dont want it to take this long. :( I guess what I am saying is that I feel like I should see be seeing better results considering the changes I have made. One of my goals this week is to push myself through the exercise. I dont think I have been doing enough. I am still at a weight that makes me “poop out” quickly. I think about those Biggest Looser people, and how they push-push themselves (with some cracking of the whip, aka Bob & Jillian!), and realize I need to do that too. I am easy on myself.
Anyways, any thoughts on this diet?? Hope everyone is having a good day and enjoying the weekend. Take care!!!
Love ya ALL!! ~Renee
I tried it, it was a good way to get off a plateau I’d been stuck on. I’m sure it’s good for you, as far as nutrition goes, and you only do it for a week. The only drawback was….. oh my God, I was so sick of it by the time to week was over! I did stick to it though, and I did lose.
Sorry but what is it? I have never heard of it? Hey sometimes my weight loss is bad and sometimes good. During Novemeber I only lost 4 pounds the whole month….who knows…
I did the cabbage soup/sacred heart diet, stuck to it 100% and lost 1 lb in one and a half weeks! In my oppinion it wasn’t worth it for the weight loss although I guess everyones body reacts differently. Maybe it was because I actually liked the soup! The positive of the diet for me was that it made me realise how much my diet lacked vegetables and revolved around carbs which was an eye opener. The drawbacks for me were getting bloated and gassy! Anyhow, that is how my experience went. If you do decide to do it good luck!
Sorry…not sure about that diet. It couldnt hurt to try it…everyone has different things that work for them.
BUT, I’ll just mention that it has been a really good thing for me in putting the scale away during the week. OK I know, it has to be a personal choice…just like when you decide to lose weight.
And…I know you said dont say it
Good luck on the plan…hope it works well!
Congrats on getting to 245 sweetheart. Do you see it and feel it girl? Here’s the bootie bounce! YAH!!
Ok,don’t know anything about the Sacred Heart Diet. I don’t know girl, I personally don’t believe in fasting, liquid diets….stuff like that. But if you want, go for it. Just do what makes you feel good.
Losing weight, the whole journey is fustrating and you will hit many plateaus. It took me 13 months to lose 70 lbs. And this time around, I lost the first 30 in about 3 1/2 months and been at a plateau since then. I barely lost 2 lbs in about 4 months. My point, just keep picking up the good habits we’ve talked about, water, vitamins, eating healthy food, exercise and you will get to 140.
LOVE YOU!

Hi there! Of course it is up to you but I think that losing weight is about changing the way we eat for longterm results. It may not come off as quickly this way but it should stay off if you stick to it. If you are just doing it to get through a plateau, whatdya have to lose? Go for it! But you can’t live off of cabbage soup forever!!! LOL. Unless u r gonna change ur name to lil Bunny foo foo:) Let us know how it goes if you do it! Best wishes!
Thanks for everyone’s input on this. I still dont know. I may just try doing it a couple days a week?? Will keep you posted!!
-Many thanks!!!
*Thanks for the bootie bounce, Nancy!!!

Good Luck, I agree these diets are not good long term because they would be impossible to maintain. But I’ve found that sometimes going on a mini-diet that is really structured makes me appreciate the freedom in my regular diet plan. Just a little mind trick I play with myself
It also helps to see a few pounds drop on the scale. Hope it works for you.
I don’t do any special diet. Just apply common sense and control my calories. Also, I would try to only weigh once a week, so you don’t get so discrouaged. Hugs!
Yes, I have some thoughts on this specific diet and all diets—they suck!! I know that’s not what you wanted to hear specially coming from me—since I can’t seem to get it together these days! I KNOW and I UNDERSTAND what you need and want to see at the scale and as much as I would love to tell you to NOT let the scale dictate your mood, the fact of the matter is that it does! BUT the bottom line for us all is that we have to make this a LIFESTYLE, something we can live with for the rest of our lives!! It’s going to take time—we didn’t put the weight over night, although DAMN IT, it sure feels like it sometimes, specially when we’ve lost, had a few bad days and the weight comes rushing back!!
I do not believe in diets and God knows I have tried them ALL, in the end, you’re going to do what you believe is the right thing to do…and I think you know, in your heart of hearts(no pun intended), what you want to do—you’re simply looking for approval—have you ever heard the words—ADVICE IS WHAT WE ASK FOR WHEN WE KNOW THE ANSWER BUT WISH WE DIDN’T? I think you know what the right thing is….my personal and although it doesn’t seem so, but is (HUMBLE) opinion is that you stay away from any diets!
I like Sparkpeople by the way, for counting and tracking calories and I am one of those people who HATED counting points and or calories—I swear for Spark, it’s been my lifeline! Give it a try and see if you like it! Let me know what you decide!
Thank you Nancy, Kama, and Marothoner! I know you guys are right…and I have been thinking about this ever since I blogged about that diet. I do know that this is a lifestyle change and there is no way in the world I could eat that soup for the rest of my life!!! LOL! So, when you look at it that way it doesnt make sense to do that soup. I do know the right thing to do. Thanks for telling me straight! I appreciate all of your thoughts and I know you are right.

Marothoner-will check out sparkpeople!! thanks!
Love & Hugs!!!
Renee, I have never heard of the sacred heart diet what is it about ? I know what you mean about seeing the results you want ! I feel frustrated sometimes that it just is not going the way I want it too ! I just have to remember to be patient ! It is hard and we can get through it together ! Hugs, Kimmi
Hey Kimmi-
The Sacred Heart diet is a diet listed here on buddyslim. It is basically eating a soup that you make, and it promises 10# weight loss in one week. It sounds so tempting, but I have realized it is just not realistic, and I have to be willing to change for my whole life. Ya know?
Renee there are two things I want to say after reading this GREAT POST of yours:
#1. You can’t control what the scale says, you can only control what you put in your mouth.
I weigh once per week and after a weight loss of 12 lbs during week one, followed by a week of intense and successful dieting for week two, I was very upset to have GAINED 2 lbs at my second weighing. Of course it was due to water retention. Observation number one helped me not go totally bonkers!!!
#2. Persistence is more important than perfection.
This observation has been helpful to me at many times in my life and in many ways. Most recently it has allowed me to forgive my self for my imperfections in dieting while allowing me to focus on what is really important, i.e., getting back on track and focusing on the LONG term.
Did you decide not to try it after all?
Okay, Renee…you know I will be blunt…STOP WITH THE SCALE EVERYDAY! Can you at least cut back to two or three times a week? Think about what it is that you get from weighing in that often and go from there to get rid of your compulsion (okay, that was a little harsh)
But really, I have not found any benefit to weighing in that often. Don’t drive yourself crazy, you are too sweet for that. I did get a good laugh out of your description of stepping on the scale. I hold my breath, as if I am redistributing the fat to other places on my body so the scale can’t detect it. Ha!
I know you are right Shannon! I appreciate your honesty. I do not get anything out of it…most of the time it is somewhat depressing, ya know. I will STOP. I agree 2-3 times a week is plenty. I will let you know how it goes!
Laters!
Hey there

I have heard good things and bad things with this diet, hehe like any diet that comes along
What has been working for me is a lifestyle change that I can live with. Diets can come and go but your lifestyle is what matters most, and a lifestyle that is full of love and happiness is the one that will work.
Good luck in all that you do, and remember, you’re beautiful and special, so always treat yourself like it!
Peace Always,
Leah ♥
